Barrett and Welsh created Don’t Let ATM Fees Take a Bite to promote TD’s improved Unlimited Chequing Account.
South Asian Canadian immigrants are shocked to discover that Canadian banks charge them fees for withdrawing their own money. In addition, they are confused by the buffet of nearly identical products served up by most Canadian banks.
To differentiate itself, TD launched an Unlimited Chequing Account that charges no TD fee at any Canadian ATM. The campaign took a light-hearted jab at other banks, represented by a banker who rudely helps himself to the food you’ve bought. Because, with other banks’ ATM fees, you lose a bite of what you buy with cash. And, of course, our ads drove home TD’s unique promise to account holders: TD will never take a bite out of what’s yours.
